Last year, I wrote about why we need to stay humble. This post takes this statement a bit further. I learned over time that the best way to become a better version of yourself to accept that you know nothing, stay humble and keep working hard.

It goes without saying that this is the case for anyone who’s trying to make it in fashion. Especially if you’re new to this industry, eating lots of humble pie and working hard to prove yourself is the recipe to success.

Are you looking to collaborate with that brand you love? Go give them a follow, and keep engaging with them without expecting anything in return. Do you want to work with that blogger you admire? Make sure you’re up to date with their blog posts and follow/engage with them on social media. But most importantly, put out good work out there, so they notice you.

And repeat one more time, every day: work hard and be nice.

For my first real summer in NYC, I’ve been defaulting to lots of denim on denim looks. Because who doesn’t love lace up denim shorts with an off the shoulder denim top?

Special thanks to Henrietta for the photos.

  1. Such great advice which I wholeheartedly agree with. Keeping your ego in check and learning from every experience and opportunity in this industry is the best way to valuable while respected. Thank you for such meaningful posts x

  2. Yes, ma’am to all that humble pie!! The most alienating thing ever is when someone you admire or look up to turns out to be too elitist to care for your opinion. At the end of the day, unless you’re a creative genius and you’re confidently positioned as “God’s greatest gift to Earth” it’s best to take a step back and acknowledge that every single person you meet is smarter than you in some area you might or might not know of, yet.

This totally also goes hand in hand with just getting out there and keeping an open mind to the world. 🙂 The more you learn and “know” about the world, the more you realize you know nothing much. ;p It’s both slightly depressing and enlightening lol.

On a lighter note though: This is one of my favorite denim on denim looks. I think the mix of washes is making me giddy first and foremost! The silhouette created with the different volumes is a close second ‘jump for joy’ type moment.
