new york city streets last month vs now all on fil

new york city streets last month vs now all on film. 🎞 if there’s any lesson from these photos is that nothing is permanent and every moment is so precious. it just allows us to dig deeper into our consciousness and find our purpose in life.

during last week as everything progressed to get worse we had 2 options: 1. to panic to be in the epicenter of the country and flee or 2. keep calm, and support everyone around us. my inner voice had a strong urge to document everything during errands and essential trips outside.

while the media has been portraying an empty NYC, that’s not what I encountered all times, and truth should speak for itself. we can no longer go outside as it’s impossible to maintain social distancing in a dense city like NYC and not everyone actually cares.

that being said we will get through this together, and I never felt closer to the community around me. in order to help, we have made donations to Direct Relief, City Meals on Wheels, and The Bowery Mission. they target the vulnerable, the first responders, the heroes.

hi you, hi 2020, hi new decade, hi big universe energy!! 🥰 i’m back and it’s time for a story from last year that became one of life defining moments for me:
✫
a kind Peruvian local living within means confessed to us he always pictured himself happier if he had more money to support his family. one day he saw a couple in a fancy car, and thought that they had it all. yet the couple in the car looked miserable and were yelling at each other, and he was so confused why.
✫
one thing i noticed repeatedly, some of the happiest people we met during our travels have very little, but found joy in the small things life offered.
✫
this new decade, i dedicate seizing every moment as it is, finding the beauty in the good, the ugly and the scary, and surrender to the universe.🌌 i’m SO grateful for you and your positive energy. here’s to cherishing our planet together one kindness at a time. 🖤 #BTS2019 #lastphotoismyfavorite ≛

how to drink coffee more sustainable...
- get a stay here non disposable cup, plus you get to slow down and enjoy every sip 🤗
- bring your own (metal) straw for ice coffee
- don’t ask for a lid
- bring your own to go cup (if you are try hard)
- choose oat or soy over almond milk (note that oat milk has more sugar and calories in it)
- take your time to properly recycle all the components
- choose fair trade supporting coffee shops
- get your own set up at home and have coffee from outside as a treat, i use a french press and espresso beans grinder at home and buy the local beans from wherever i’m traveling

do you have any more recommendations?

PS. can you believe this is the 2nd OLDEST coffee shop in the world dating back to 1720? definitely not 16th century prices tho. 😊 Melis
